Visitor Moorings – Pontoons

There are two pontoons where visitors can stay. The main pontoon is in the Pool area of the Harbour on the Starboard side as you travel upstream, please check the suitability of using this pontoon with the Harbour Master if your boat draws more than 2.0m. The second is located further upstream on the port side, please check the suitability of using this pontoon with the Harbour Master if your boat draws more than 1.5m. Both pontoons can take up to three abreast on both sides.

The tidal flow at the main visitors pontoon does not run parallel to it with the flow, at both Flood and Ebb, pushing boats onto the channel side of the pontoon. this can make the approach to the pontoon difficult to judge, especially at peak spring tide. This is where most collisions in the harbour occur.

Please ensure, if possible, that larger craft are berthed inboard and smaller vessels do not occupy more space than is necessary. Vessels with bowsprits should either run them in or berth in such a manner to avoid fouling other craft.
